This is typically the very last step in your writing journey before your work gets published. This is a check of the final draft of your work before printing. I will identify and correct any mistakes in the mechanical elements of your piece including:

  • Grammar

  • Spelling

  • Punctuation

  • Capitalization

  • Formatting

  • On-page layout (headers/footers, page numbers, page breaks, placement of visuals)

A package deal! Along with reviewing and correcting the mechanical aspects of your work and doing the final read through for errors, I will ensure the piece you write reflects your unique voice, meaning, and tone. I will make sure your piece adheres to the style guide provided and looks polished and concise. In addition to addressing the elements above I will also work to enhance readability by correcting the following:

  • Tone and style deviations

  • Wordiness

  • Clunky transitions

  • Confusing syntax

  • Problematic or misused words

  • Uneven flow

  • Fact-checking

  • Word repetition

Copy editing

Pricing: $0.02 per word

While copy editing encompasses many elements of proofreading, it takes place separately as the step before the proofreading process. I will heavily focus on sentence structure and correct grammar, voice and tone, continuity and fluidity, fact-checking, and confusing or awkward syntax.
